Apoquel® (oclacitinib) Tablets for Dogs


Overview


Apoquel® (oclacitinib maleate) tablets are an FDA-approved medication for the control of pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis and the control of atopic dermatitis in dogs at least 12 months of age.

Prescription required. For use in dogs only.

Available Strengths



  • 3.6 mg Tablets

  • 5.4 mg Tablets

  • 16 mg Tablets


Your veterinarian will prescribe the appropriate strength for your dog.

How to Administer

  • Dosing: Tablets are given orally, with or without food.

  • Scored tablets: May be divided if instructed by your veterinarian.

  • Storage: Store at controlled room temperature in original packaging.

  • Missed dose: Give when remembered unless near the next scheduled dose. Do not double up.


Important Safety Information



  • For dogs only; not for use in cats or other animals.

  • Not for use in dogs under 12 months or those with serious infections.

  • Use with caution in dogs with a history of neoplasia.

  • Wash hands after handling tablets; keep out of reach of children and other animals.

In addition to commercially available Apoquel® tablets, our pharmacy compounds oclacitinib in alternative forms when prescribed by a veterinarian, including:

  • Flavored Chewables – a treat-like option for picky eaters.

  • Oral Liquid – useful for flexible dosing or pets that prefer liquids.


Compounded preparations are made to order for individual patients based on a valid prescription. They are not FDA-approved.
