Methimazole Transdermal Gel Compounded for Cats (1 mL Syringe)

Overview

Our pharmacists compound Methimazole Transdermal Gel specifically for feline patients under a licensed veterinarian’s prescription. Because many cats dislike oral medication, this transdermal option provides a stress-free alternative. The medication absorbs through the skin, eliminating the struggle of giving pills.

We package the gel in sterile 1 mL syringes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and convenience. Each syringe is pre-measured for controlled dosing. For more details about methimazole in veterinary use, visit
Veterinary Partner (VIN).

Available Strengths

SVPMEDS offers Methimazole Transdermal Gel in several strengths so veterinarians can match each cat’s treatment plan. The most common concentrations include:

  • 2.5 mg per 0.1 mL

  • 5 mg per 0.1 mL

  • 10 mg per 0.1 mL

In addition, we can custom compound other strengths to meet any specific dosing requirement your veterinarian prescribes.

Size & Dosing at a Glance

  • Syringe size: 1 mL.

  • Dose equivalency: Each 1 mL syringe provides 10 doses at 0.1 mL per dose.

  • Reminder: Always follow your veterinarian’s directions for dosing and frequency.

Key Features

  • Customized strengths: We prepare every order to the exact dose prescribed.

  • Transdermal route: Application through the skin reduces stress for cats that resist oral dosing.

  • 1 mL syringe format: Each syringe dispenses accurately measured doses for easy administration.

  • Protective packaging: Every syringe arrives sealed in a light-resistant bag to preserve quality.

  • Included accessories: Nitrile finger cots ensure safe, hygienic application.

  • Inactive ingredient: Compounded using Lipoderm® base for effective transdermal absorption.

  • Quality assurance: We follow USP <795> compounding standards with pharmaceutical-grade materials.

  • Fast turnaround: We compound and ship prescriptions quickly to reduce patient wait time.

How to Administer

  • Follow directions: Apply exactly as your veterinarian instructs.

  • Measure carefully: Push the plunger to the prescribed marking (for example, 0.1 mL per dose).

  • Application site: Rub the gel gently onto the inner surface of the cat’s ear flap (pinna) unless your veterinarian advises otherwise.

  • Technique: Use the provided nitrile finger cots and massage the gel until absorbed. For external use only.

  • Storage: Keep capped syringes at room temperature, away from heat and light. Store them inside the light-resistant bag when not in use.

  • Missed dose: Apply it when remembered unless the next scheduled dose is near. If so, skip the missed dose and resume the regular schedule.

Other Available Dosage Forms

Because every cat responds differently, SVPMEDS also compounds Methimazole in several additional dosage forms:

  • Methimazole Transdermal (Topi-CLICK Micro®) – a metered dispenser with audible CLICK feedback.

  • Methimazole Flavored Oral Liquid – a flexible liquid option for cats that tolerate oral dosing.

  • Methimazole Flavored Chewables – a palatable chewable for easy daily administration.

Important Notes

  • Prescription required: A valid prescription from a licensed veterinarian is necessary.

  • Compounded medication: Compounded to meet individual patient needs; not FDA-approved.

  • Patient-specific: Each prescription is prepared for one pet and is not for resale.

  • External use only: Never ingest or apply to broken skin.
